ABSTRACT

Objective To assess these in a consecutive series of patients with ICC treated surgically. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 189 ICC patients undergoing surgery.Surgical results and survival were evaluated and compared among different subgroups of patients.Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify prognostic factors. Results R0,R1,R2 resection and exploratory laparotomy were obtained in 63,84,31 and 11 patients, respectively. The overall 5 -year survival rates for the entire cohort were 16.8%,with corresponding rates of 26.3% for patients with R0 resection;14.3% for patients with R1 resection;6.8% for patients with R2 resection;and 0.0% for patients with an exploratory laparotomy.Independent factors for poor survival included positive resection margin, multiple tumors, beta - catenin nuclear expression and lymph node metastasis. Conclusion R0 resection offers the best possibility of long -term survival, but the chance of a R0 resection is low when surgery is performed for potential resectable ICC.Patients with characteristics of beta -catenin nuclear expres-sion,multiple tumors and lymph node metastasis are indicated to surgery which is needed to be further studied.

ABSTRACT

Bio-augmentation is a promising technique for remediation of polluted soils. This study aimed to evaluate the So-augmentation effect of Rhodobacter sphaeroides biofertilizer [RBF] on the bioremediation of total petroleum hydrocarbons [TPH] contaminated soil. A greenhouse pot experiment was conducted over a period of 120 days, three methods for enhancing bio-augmentation were tested on TPH contaminated soils, including single addition RBF, pianting, and combining of RBF and three crop species, such as wheat [W], cabbage [C] and spinach [S], respectively. The results demonstrated that the best removal of TPH from contaminated soil in the RBF bio-augmentation rhizosphere SOds was found to be 46.2%, 65.4%, 67.5% for W+RBF, C+RBF, S+RBF rhizosphere soils respectively. RBF supply impacted on the microbial community diversity [phospholipid fatty acids, PLFA] and the activity of soil enzymes, such dehydrogenase [DH], alkaline phosphatase [AP] and urease [UR]. There were significant difference among the soil only containing crude oil [CK], W, C and S rhizosphere soils and RBF bio-augmentation soils. Moreover, the changes lh ere significantly distinct depended on crops species. It was concluded that the RBF is a valuable material for improving effect of remediation of TPH polluted soils

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of extemal application of Chinese medicine following tapping using a plum-blossom needle for allergic rhinitis. Methods:All 328 cases were randomized into an observation group of 206 cases,Chinese medicine group of 70 cases and point application group of 52 cases. Results:The differences between the observation and Chinese medicine groups (P<0.01) and between the observation and point application group (P<0.05) were both of statistical meaning. The cases in the observation obtained the best effect, the point application group obtained a moderate effect and the Chinese medicine group obtained the least effect.A younger age and an increased number of treatments contributed to a better effect. Conclusion:External application of Chinese medicine following tapping using a plum-blossom needle is safe and effective for allergic rhinitis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the relationship between expression of CD44v6 in gastric carcinoma and neoplasm metastasis and prognosis. Methods Expression of CD44v6 in 52 cases of gastric carcinoma was assayed by flow immunocytometry, and its relation with clinical pathology and prognosis was analyzed. Results In 52 cases of gastric carcinoma tissue, the positive rate of CD44v6 expression was 67.31%(35/52); but the positive rate of CD44v6 expression in normal gastric tissue was 25.00% (13/52). The positive rate of expression was significantly different (P
